The device has an oxidation chamber (12) separated from a degassing zone (10), where a pyrolysis gas (20) is supplied. A supply air channel (16) is connected with the chamber, where an oxidizing agent is supplied to the chamber via the channel. A reduction zone (23) is arranged within the chamber, and receives the exhaust gas from the chamber. A reduction coke (24) arising during the gas production is supplied under circumvention of the chamber. Nozzles (6) are arranged in a circumference of a shaft gasifier, where an air flow is guided to the zone (10) via the nozzles.
