PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end cap and a linear guide with it capable of preventing operability and durability of the linear guide from lowering. SOLUTION: In the end cap 1 with an end cap main body 2 and a return guide 4, a direction-changing passage for communicating a load rolling passage and a rolling element return passage which a slider main body has is formed, a return guide insertion hole 10 to which the return guide 4 is inserted and a communication passage 12 for identification for communicating a side surface 16 of the end cap main body 2 and the return guide insertion hole 10 are provided at a joint face 8 of the end cap main body 2 with the slider main body. The communication passage 12 for identification is formed to be a shape which enables visual recognition of whether the return guide 4 is mounted to the return guide insertion hole 10 or not from the side surface 16 of the end cap main body 2.
