PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forming method of a chip breaker capable of inexpensively forming a chip breaker with high accuracy of dimension on a hard sintered body cutter containing diamond and/or cubic boron nitride.

SOLUTION: This forming method of a chip breaker includes a process of forming a three-dimensional shaped chip breaker pattern 24 on the surface 26 of the hard sintered body made of diamond and/or cubic boron nitride by revolving and moving a beam spot P around an illumination axis at high speed, using a Femtosecond pulsed laser 30.
