A system for supplying a duplicated telephone number search service to a mobile communication terminal and a method therefor are provided to add a function of automatically searching duplicated telephone numbers to the search service so as to automatically search telephone numbers and names registered in a phone book if a user executes the searching function for duplicated telephone numbers. A phone book application of a terminal is executed, and a terminal user receives a key input signal for using a duplicated telephone number search service from the terminal(S400). Phone book data is called from a memory, and it is checked whether one name of the phone book data includes another name(S402,S404). If so, the name of the phone book data is displayed on a screen of the terminal(S406). If the name does not include another name, a message indicating that a duplicated name does not exist is displayed.
