PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aspect ratio varying device, projector, image display apparatus and image display method, which can be applied in, for example, multiple image screen display using a plurality of projectors, and which make it possible to freely vary, by a simple configuration, the aspect ratio of an image projected on a screen. SOLUTION: Image light is projected on the screen via a first transparent cylindrical member 31 and a second cylindrical transparent member 32 in order. The second transparent member 32 is rotated so as to change an angle formed between the emission face 35 of the first transparent cylindrical member 31 and the incident face 36 of the second transparent member 32.
