PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having excellent running durability and dispersibility with respect to a binder of a magnetic material. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium is constituted so that a magnetic layer which includes the magnetic material consisting of a ferromagnetic metal power or hexagonal ferrite power and the binder is formed on at least one surface of a non-magnetic substrate, wherein the magnetic material is treated with at least one kind of coupling agent which is selected from silane coupling agent, titanate based coupling agent and aluminum based coupling agent.
