PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an expression of an intermediate color by materializing high-resolution color display. SOLUTION: A recording display medium 1 is constructed by arranging a plurality of microcapsules 4 between a pair of transparent substrate 2 and substrate 3 holding a gap in between and placed opposite to each other. A transparent electrode 5 and an electrode 6 are respectively arranged on positions corresponding to respective microcapsules 4 on mutually opposing surfaces of the transparent substrate 2 and the substrate 3 to apply an electric field to the respective microcapsules 4. Yellow, magenta, and cyan electrophoretic particles with mutually different mobility values and amounts of charges are mixed into a dispersion medium 7 inside the microcapsule 4. Color display is conducted by transferring the respective electrophoretic particles with electric field application and turning off the electric field when an aimed color is displayed.
