A washing composition consists of soap or similar detergent in admixture with a water-soluble compound of a thiotetraphosphoric acid. Alkali metal salts of tetraphosphoric acid (H6P4O13) in which one or more oxygen atoms are replaced by sulphur are used. Examples are, sodium monothiotetraphosphate (NaP6B4 O12S) or the trithiocompound (Na6P4O10S3), are mixed with a sodium or potassium soap, or with sodium alkyl sulphonates containing 10 to 18 carbon atoms. The soap may also contain borax, ammonium salts, ortho phosphates, oda sash or rosin. Other detergents specified are: oxalic acid with or without sodium acid sulphate, a dry mixture of sodium hypochloride and sodium bisulphate. For the preparation of a washing bath, the ingredients are preferably added simultaneously, i.e. as a pre-formed mixture. |
