<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically detecting an external surface defect (outside diameter dimple) of a tubular material in production equipment in which a sizer is installed downstream of an elongator. <P>SOLUTION: The method for detecting the external surface defect is used for detecting the external surface defect of the tubular material in the production equipment of the tubular material P in which the sizer M2 is installed downstream of the elongator M1. An outside diameter gage 1 is disposed on the outlet side of the sizer M2 and the outside diameter of the portion of the tubular material P corresponding to the vicinity of a roll flange part of the elongator M1 is measured and the external surface defect of the tubular material P can be detected based on the fluctuation in the axial direction of the tubular material P of the measured outside diameter value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
