PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a polyphenylene sulfide resin composition which collects and re-uses wasted fibers created during the process of manufacturing polyphenylene sulfide fibers, wasted fibers created by the process of forming polyphenylene sulfide fibers into a desired shape, and used polyphenylene sulfide fibers. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the polyphenylene sulfide resin composition comprises using polyphenylene sulfide fibers (A) as an original material and is characterized by the following steps of: (a) heating and pressing the polyphenylene sulfide fibers (A) to obtain either a massive or a strand form of the heated and compressed product; (b) cutting the above prepared product to form a cut product; and (c) melt kneading the above prepared cut product alone or with an additive to give a polyphenylene sulfide resin composition.
