PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolating structure so formed that a base isolating device is not operated by the oscillation of medium and small earthquakes and wind of 2 to 3 in seismic intensity and operated only when an earthquake exceeding 3 in seismic intensity occurs. SOLUTION: In this base isolating structure 1, the base isolating device 4 and a vibration damper 5 are installed between a foundation 2 and an upper skeleton 3 separated from each other. The vibration damper 5 is not broken by a prescribed oscillation. A breakable body 10 is broken by an oscillation exceeding the prescribed oscillation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
