PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image output device capable of improving reproducibility of a density. SOLUTION: This optical type image output device controls density of one pixel by virtue of a length of a time period for emission of a light. The image output device comprises a means for determining a light emission position in one recording point, a means for determining density information of the one recording point according to an input image, a means for generating a pulse for emitting a light according to the density determination means and the light emission position determination means, and a means that varies information to be input to the pulse generation means for emission of a light according to the density information of one recording point in a relationship that the resolution of the density information reproduced by the pulse generation means is higher than the resolution of the density information of the one recording point. The image output device further comprises a means for switching the last time period for emission of a light depending on the emission position and the density. The switching of the density is determined based on the information of the emission position of the present recording point and the information of the emission position of at least one recording point adjacent to the present recording point.
