PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition which keeps excellent flexibility inherent in a copolymer type PBT, has high flame retardancy, does not undergo bleed-out of a flame retardant, and is desirable as a material for electric wire coating by compounding a copolymer-type PBT resin with a nonhalogen flame retardant. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant resin composition for electric wire coating comprises 60 to 95 pts.wt. (A) polybutylene terephthalate containing dodecanedioic acid as a copolymerization component, and 5 to 40 pts.wt. (B) flame-retardant component comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of (b1) phosphoric esters and (b2) salts of triazine compounds with cyanuric acid or isocyanuric acid.
