<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supported catalyst which can shorten a production process of a supported catalyst advantageously usable in the production process of a lower aliphatic carboxylic acid from a lower olefin and oxygen and can suppress a deterioration in a catalyst in the production of carbon dioxide (CO<SB>2</SB>) as a by-product in the production of a lower aliphatic carboxylic acid as compared with the prior art technique. <P>SOLUTION: A compound containing at least one element selected from groups 8, 9 and 10 elements of the periodic table is supported on a carrier. Thereafter, before the reduction of this compound, the compound is treated with an alkaline material, and supporting of a compound containing at least one element selected from gallium, indium, thallium, germanium, tin, lead, phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, bismuth, sulfur, selenium, tellurium, and polonium is carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
