PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environment where it is easy for any operator to easily operate electronic equipment regardless of the size of the hand or physical peculiarity of the operator. SOLUTION: In this electronic equipment equipped with an operating member which can be operated in a plurality of directions, and configured to perform an operation corresponding to the operating direction of the operating member, the number of operating directions which exceeds the number of operation which can be achieved by the operating member is detected by a detection means, and each operation is associated with the detection operating direction of the detection means based on the instruction of an operator, and the correspondence relation is stored. When the operation of the operating member is detected by the detection means, the stored correspondence relation is referred to, and when it is the operation in the direction associated with the operation, the operation corresponding to the operating direction is performed.
