PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that image quality is degraded with a recording head driven from an ambient temperature even when a temperature of a recording liquid does not follow the ambient temperature by a sudden change in the ambient temperature. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus comprises a quasi-tank 90 containing a liquid having a heat capacity the same as that of a sub-tank 15 containing a recording liquid and a first temperature sensor 91 for detecting the temperature of the quasi-tank 90 itself. A drive waveform for driving the recording head 11 is corrected according to the detected result of the quasi-tank 90 itself indicative of the following property the same as the temperature change of the recording liquid with respect to the change of the ambient temperature, so that it is possible to carry out the controlling according to the temperature near the actual temperature of the recording liquid.
