The curtain rail is associated with a lower fall bar (2) which has a similar clamping profile each with a clamping channel (13) in which the flat curtain (4) is clamped. The surface curtain rail is preferably in two parts with a base profile (6) and a detent profile (7) with upper web (26) and an inclined web (28). The curtain (4) is inserted one side into the clamping chamber of the base profile by removing the detent profile and fitting the detent profile onto the base profile to create a clamping channel to clamp the end of the curtain.
