PRODUCTION OF CYANIDE HYDRATASE

Prepn. of the enzyme cyanide hydratase (CH) comprises (a) continuously cultivating a micro-organism strain aerobically in an aq. culture contg. sources of C and of appropriate inorganic nutrients at 28-34 deg.C and at pH 4.5-7.5 with a dilution rate up to 0.11 hr. to minus 1, while continuously supplying cyanide ions and/or HCN or cpds. generating them under fermentation conditions, to the culture at a concn. equiv. to at least 15 mM (cyanide ions and/or HCN in the total medium supplied to the culture), and (b) recovering cells contg. CH from the culture.
