PURPOSE:To obtain a high-hardness copper alloy in which oxides are equally dispersed, by mixing metal grains for oxidation into a molten metal and carrying out oxidation in a runner at the time of molding a molten copper alloy as matrix in a mold. CONSTITUTION:Just before a molten copper alloy A to be a matrix is poured from a ladle 8 into a pouring gate 7, an inert gas is allowed to flow through a passage 9a. Then, prescribed amounts of metal grains M for oxidation are allowed to fall down into the molten metal by working a vibrator 9c. As the metal for oxidation, the one more easily oxidizable than the matrix and forming high-hardness oxides, e.g., the one consisting of 90% copper and 10% Al is used. The metal grains M for oxidation are brought into contact with the oxygen in the molten metal in the course of flowing, together with the matrix, toward a cavity 2 and oxidized, which are formed into hard oxides and fixed in the matrix. In this way, a strengthened-type alloy in which oxides are relatively equally dispersed in the whole matrix can be obtained.
