PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of the use of a facsimile equipment without impairing the communication cost priority by providing a first and a second call control means to the facsimile equipment having an automatic call means, and selectively using above-mentioned control means depending on the status of connection. CONSTITUTION:In the case of a call to a destination connectable to both tele phone network and FAX network, the call control means A selects one of the networks whose communication charge is less than the other, and the auto matic call means makes a call to the selected network and when the connection is decided to be impossible, the call control means B stops the call action to the telephone network, and controls so that the FAX network is selected and a call is made by the automatic call means. In this case, since the FAX network has an accumulation/exchange function, a transmission information at a caller's terminal is immediately transmission to the FAX network. Also, because the information is transmitted through the telephone network as long as destination terminal comes unable to be connected, the increase of communication cost can be suppressed.
