PURPOSE:To form a multicolor image of high quality by generating artificially a 2nd horizontal synchronizing signal for determining an image writing-out position by delaying a 1st horizontal synchronizing signal by a specific time. CONSTITUTION:A beam detector 1 detects a scanned laser beam and outputs a light quantity signal to a waveform shaping circuit 2. The circuit 2 generates and outputs the 1st horizontal synchronizing signal BD1 to a host-side computer and a one-shot circuit 3, which outputs an adjusting pulse 3a holding a high state for a specific time to a one-shot circuit 5 in synchronism with the leading edge of the signal BD1, thereby adjusting an on time by a pulse width adjusting device 4. A circuit 5 generates artificially the 2nd horizontal synchronizing signal for determining the image writing timing of the 2nd image signal in synchronism with the trailing edge of the pulse 3a and outputs it to the host-side computer. Consequently, a multicolor image of high quality is formed.
