PURPOSE:To prepare a polymerized oil at a relatively low temperature, in a short time, without color development, by polymerizing oils and fats using anthraquinones and phenols as polymerization catalysts. CONSTITUTION:An oil such as linseed oil is polymerized by heating at, e.g. 270- 290 deg.C, using a polymerization catalyst composition composed of (A) 0.01-5 wt.%, based on the oil, of anthraquinones [for example, formula I (R1-4 are H, alkyl), etc.] and (B) 0.1-2 moles, based on 1 mole of the (A) component, of phenols [for example, formula II (R5-9 are H, alkyl), etc.]. |
