Process which comprises: engraving the non-adhesive surface of a continuous strip of paper; continuously forming on said engraved surface, while moving at constant speed, a film of synthetic material; arranging on this film, before it dries, pieces of natural leather; next, pressing the pieces of leather on the film of synthetic material; displacing the laminate formed continuously through an oven for curing the synthetic material; and separating, at the outlet from the oven, the strip of paper from the assembly formed by the film of synthetic material and the pieces of leather. <IMAGE>
