A slide member includes a surface layer of a Pb alloy on a slide surface for a mating member, and the crystal form of the Pb alloy is formed, eg. by electrodeposition so that the orientation index in a (h00) plane by Miller indices is in a range of 50 to 100% so as to increase seizure resistance. Additionally if the crystals are pyramidal with an apex directed towards the sliding surface and having a base length d of 8 mu m or less, the oil retention characteristics can be improved. |
