PURPOSE:To obtain a roll for use under intense heat enabling continuous production of ceramic sintered bodies as long-sized building materials in large quantities by firing in a broad furnace by forming a layer of alumina, mullite, etc., on the peripheral surface of a cylindrical core material formed by integrating carbon fibers with a carbonizable adhesive and integrating the layer and the core material by firing. CONSTITUTION:Carbon fibers are integrated with an adhesive carbonizable under intense heat and acting as a heat insulator after carbonization, e.g. phenol resin to form a cylindrical core material. A layer of alumina, mullite, etc., is formed on the peripheral surface of the core material in one body and they are integrated by firing to obtain a roll for use under intense heat. |
