PURPOSE:To detect angular velocity at high accuracy by providing a shaft extending in the direction of Z-axis, penetrating the vibrational center of a vibration means, which is supported by a base, and which has almost the same resonance frequency in the directions X and Y-axes. CONSTITUTION:The lower part of a shaft 14 of a device has the same structure as the upper part, and a cylinder 20' and a moving scale 22' are provided thereon. An exciting means 16 is composed of a rod-shaped core 24 and a driving coil 26 wound around the rod-shaped core 24, and is fixed to a housing 12 through a bush 28. The end of the rod-shaped core 24 is close to the flat surface part of a ferromagnetic body drum 26. When an unknown angular velocity omegais input, Coriolis force Fc correspondent to the angular velocity omega is generated in the direction of Y-axis. Since the resonance frequency (f) of a plate spring 13 is the same for X-axis and Y-axis, the shaft 14 is vibrated also in the direction of Y-axis. By measuring the amplitude of the vibration in the direction of Y-axis, Coriolis force, i.e., the angular velocity omega can be detected 18, 18'. |
