The invention relates to a method for sorting a mixture of residual bodies, some consisting essentially of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and the others of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), characterised in that it comprises the operations consisting in heating the mixture to a temperature selected from the range 100-250@C, in conveying it in contact with a mechanical member capable of retaining the PVC bodies owing to their elasticity, viscoelasticity, plasticity or rebound ability which is different from the temperature chosen with respect to the PET bodies, and in separately recovering the bodies retained and the bodies which are not retained. Application to the sorting of a mixture of plastic bottles.
