Waveguide-TEM line transition for satellite communications - has TEM line inserted into waveguide coupling section with stub and short circuit matching

The TEM line (15,16) protrudes at right angles to the waveguide direction of propagation in a cavity (11) of larger dimension than the waveguide (10). The two units are bolted directly together. The cavity has a backing RF short circuit (23) formed from a shaped section of the cavity, together with a matching stub (24) placed between the microstrip and the waveguide. The matching stub together with the short circuit provides a good match for the microstrip/waveguide transmission. ADVANTAGE - Size of transition is reduced.
