A safety valve of a portable gas container is provided to prevent explosion of the gas container by discharging over-pressure gas resulting from external pressure and temperature rise. A safety valve of a portable gas container comprises a high pressure gas outlet hole(12), a shaft(32), a gasket(38), a supporting member(34), and a spring(36). The high pressure gas outlet is formed on the bottom of a mounting cup(10). The shaft has a T-shaped section consisting of horizontal and vertical parts, the horizontal part located above the high pressure gas outlet hole and the vertical part located inside the gas container through the high pressure gas outlet hole. The gasket is fitted between the top of the mounting cup and the horizontal part. The supporting member is combined with the lower end of the vertical part of the shaft. The spring is fitted to the shaft to be located between the top of the supporting member and the bottom of the mounting cup in which the high pressure gas outlet hole is formed.
