A method, system and equipment for accessing network device to packet exchange network are provided, the method applied to the network device which connects to the PE through the primary and secondary mode, in which the network device accesses to the system of packet exchange network, the method includes: the primary PE and the secondary PE sending a fault detection message to the network device through the interface connecting to the network device, respectively; the primary PE determining the received fault detection response from the interface during the preset time, then setting the interface "UP", and issuing route to a remote terminal PE; otherwise setting the interface "DOWN"; and cancelling route to a remote terminal PE; the secondary PE receiving the fault detection response from the interface connecting to the network device itself, then setting the interface "UP", and issuing route to a remote terminal PE.
