Loft tank protection system

The system protects heating system header tanks and hot water cylinder storage tanks situated in the loft area from failure due to boiling water being discharged into them via an open vent pipe, in the event of component failure. Should a component fail and water within the heating or hot water system begin to rise in temperature and expand up through the open vent pipe and discharge into the loft tank, then a manual reset limit thermostat which breaks on temperature rise will isolate the power supply. The thermostat is a manual reset thermostat which can only be restored manually. The supply to the limit thermostat is through a secondary fused spur direct from a main fuse board. The boiler, immersion heater and limit thermostat can be isolated for maintenance as normal by the main or secondary fused spurs.
