RFID READER AND SYSTEM HAVING SWITCHABLE ANTENNA

An RFID reader and a system having a switched antenna reducing polarization mismatch between a tag antenna and a reader antenna are provided to reduce polarization mismatch of a tag antenna by varying polarization of a switching antenna. An RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) reader(100) includes a switched antenna(110), an antenna controller(140) and a reader circuit(150). The switched antenna includes the switching circuit(120) and plurality of radiators. The switching circuit is connected through the feeder electrode to the reader circuit. Each switch electrically connects a feeder electrode and each radiator. The switched antenna includes a plurality of polarization orientations. The antenna controller controls the polarity direction of the switched antenna through the polarity hopping.
