The device has a transport carriage (30) with a set of delivery points (31, 33, 35) for a component (16) e.g. electrical component, for transporting the component from a loading region (24) to a transfer region (64) to load the transport slide with the component. A transport carriage (40) has another set of delivery points for transporting the component from the transfer region to a collecting region (62) for a mounting head (72) of a mounting machine (70). The component is transferred from the transport carriage (30) to the transport carriage (40) inside of the transfer region. An independent claim is also included for a method for conveying a component to a mounting machine for mounting the component on a substrate.
