PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tera hertz light source capable of outputting terahertz light of high intensity and capable of making the structure compact. SOLUTION: The tera hertz light source is made of a one-dimensional photonic crystal formed by alternately arranging layers having different refractive indexes, wherein the one-dimensional photonic crystal has a defect part 2 formed with a member capable of generating terahertz light in the crystal and a pair of mirror parts 3, 3 which holds the defect part and the pair of mirror parts 3, 3 is formed into a structure capable of resonating the terahertz light generated by the defect part 2 within the defect part 2. Because the terahertz light generated by the defect part 2 can be resonated within the defect part 2, the intensity of the terahertz light outputted from the terahertz light source 1 to the outside can be amplified.
