A functional material in which DNA is coupled with an inorganic compound for providing a functional material which retains a function of DNA (an organic compound) and has a strength of an inorganic compound. The functional material is obtained by mixing DNA and an inorganic coupling agent (such as a silane coupling agent or a metal alkoxide), and produced by mixing an inorganic coupling agent in an amount of 5 to 60% by mass, preferably 10 to 50% by mass, more preferably 20 to 40% by mass relative to DNA. |
