[PROBLEMS] To provide a novel method of treating asbestos by which an asbestos material, such as an asbestos product which has been utilized as, e.g., a refractory coating of a reinforcing-steel structure, heat-insulating/sound-proofing material in a building, heat-insulating covering material for a heat-insulted appliance, or friction material of a vehicle brake or an asbestos material whose treatment is troublesome, can be safely confined by a simple operation and can be made harmless at a relatively low temperature. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The method of asbestos treatment is characterized by treating an asbestos material with a water-glass-like aqueous solution to coat the asbestos material with a vitreous substance and then heat-treating the coated asbestos material. |
