472,015. Work holders. MASCHINENFABRIKS-AKT.-GES. N. HEID. Dec. 8, 1936, No. 33665. Convention date, Oct. 28. [Class 83 (iii)] Work-holding and like appliances such as face-plates and chucks are set up in lathes and other machines with a rotating head spindle by means of an auxiliary device arranged upon the machine and with which the holding appliance is brought within reach of the head spindle and is held in the correct position during the establishment of the connection with the spindle, or is moved away therefrom after release. A face plate 8 and chuck 9, Figs. 1 and 2, may be carried for alternative use, on the device which comprises a rocking arm 1 pivoted to the machine bed and carrying a slidable but non-rotatable rod 5. A transverse rod 7 rotatable in a guide on a swivel plate 6, attached to the rod 5, and also slidable therein detachably carries at its ends the face plate and chuck. Thus the face plate may be disconnected while supported by the device and the latter swung backwards and the swivel plate turned through 180‹ to bring the chuck adjacent the spindle end for attachment thereto. In a modification, Fig. 5, an arm 16 pivoted at 15 to the machine frame carries, by means of a rod 20, and bearing 17, a rotatable and slidable support 11 for a chuck 8. |
