PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that corrosion degradation due to electrochemical reaction with seawater of an electrode during excitation, and generation of poisonous chlorine gas from the electrode are a serious barrier for practical application of Lorentz force which works at electrolyte in a vertical direction to a magnetic field and current direction when flowing DC between positive and negative electrodes in the electrolyte in the magnetic field as propelling force of a marine vessel and others. SOLUTION: A phenomenon that electromagnetic induction flows current in a metallic wire without electrodes occurs in a secondary coil of a transformer. An electrolyte is used in the secondary coil. Secondary coil current in the transformer is proportional to time differential of primary coil current and mutual inductance of the first and second coils. Current is flowed in the electrolyte in the magnetic field by this method to use Lorentz force generated thereby as force to force out seawater. Electrodes are not used, therefore, electrochemical reaction does not occur, thus preventing generation of poisonous chlorine gas from seawater. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
