<p>The present invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of indole derivatives. In particular, present invention relates to the process for preparing naratriptan of formula (I), and its salts using novel intermediates. The present invention also relates to novel synthetic intermediates useful in the preparation of naratriptan hydrochloride.</p>
