METHANOL OXIDATION CATALYST AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methanol oxidation catalyst having high activity and a method for manufacturing the methanol oxidation catalyst.

SOLUTION: The methanol oxidation catalyst contains a fine particle having the composition shown by general formula (1): PtxRuyMozTu(wherein a T element is at least one selected from the group consisting of W and V; x is 20-80 at.%; y is 10-60 at.%; z is 1-30 at.%; u is 1-30 at.%). The methanol oxidation catalyst is characterized in that an area of a peak derived from a bond of the T element to oxygen is ≤80% of that of the peak derived from bonds of the T element to the metals (Pt and Ru) in a spectrum obtained by an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy method.
