PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress trouble wherein an image looks expanded, and scattering of colorants in comparison with devices employing an invention wherein upper limit values for limiting total amounts of colorants are of the same by setting the total amounts of colorants per color signal to values equal to or smaller than upper limit values set to respective color signals when performing color conversion processing. SOLUTION: A color signal (first color signal) which is to be processed and is accepted by a CMYK signal accepting part 11 is converted to an output color signal (second color signal) in such a way that total amounts of respective color component values of the second color signal are equal to or smaller than upper limit values (total amount limit values Tj) set to respective second color signals.
