In order to improve a cable comprising an inner cable body in which there are at least one conductor strand of an optical and/or electrical conductor running in the cable longitudinal direction, a cable sheath surrounding the cable inner element, said sheath being located between a cable outer surface and the cable inner element, and an optically legible identifier for the cable, the invention proposes that the cable sheath has an intermediate sheath and a cable outer sheath, that the optically legible identifier is arranged in the cable sheath so as to be covered by the cable outer sheath and that the cable outer sheath is transparent--in a range of optical wavelength--at least in a cover region extending over the optically legible identifier. |
