PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper capable of exhibiting damping force with excellent responsiveness even in a contraction stroke. SOLUTION: For solving the problem, this damper has a cylinder 1, a piston 2 slidingly inserted into the cylinder 1 and partitioned into a rod chamber R1 and a piston chamber R2 in the cylinder 1, a rod 3 movably inserted into the cylinder 1 and having one end connected to the piston 2, a reservoir R, an extension side damping flow passage 4 allowing a flow turning to the piston chamber R2 from the rod chamber R1 and applying resistance to a flow of a passing liquid, a pressure side damping flow passage 5 allowing a flow turning to the reservoir R from the piston chamber R2 and applying resistance to the flow of the passing liquid, a piston chamber side suction flow passage 6 allowing only a flow turning to the piston chamber R2 from the reservoir R, and a rod chamber side suction flow passage 7 allowing only a flow turning to the rod chamber R1 from the reservoir R.
