PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-efficient and inexpensive rotor for axial gap type rotary electric machines. SOLUTION: The rotor 10 for axial gap type rotary electric machines includes a frame 1 capable of rotating with the axis of rotation as the center, and a plurality of field sections 2 that are arranged around a rotation axis center C of the frame 1 and include a magnetic pole surface on an axial end face. At each field section 2, two permanent magnet pieces 211 including magnetic pole surfaces formed in a right-angled trapezoid or a right angled triangle are arranged so that width W1 at the outer-periphery side of the frame 1 becomes larger than that W2 at the side of the rotation axis center C, and the two permanent magnet pieces 211 are formed by dividing a permanent magnet including a rectangular magnetic pole surface into two equal parts by a parting line inclined to the side.
