The purpose of the invention is to provide a metal layer with an insulating layer, which is uniform and thin and can be produced at low cost. Disclosed herein for achieving the purpose is a laminate of a ceramic insulating layer and a metal layer, which is characterized in that the ceramic insulating layer comprises a binder between ceramic particles in a ceramic particle coating film that is formed by electrophoretic deposition of the ceramic particles. The laminate is suitable for use in the formation of a circuit for a printed wiring board, a semiconductor circuit, the formation of circuits including a semiconductor circuit, and the production of various electronic components such as formation materials for capacitors and the like which are obtained by utilizing the dielectric characteristics of a ceramic insulating layer.
