PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet detector allowing highly sensitive detection of a magnet used for illegal conducts against a game machine by preventing erroneous detection caused due to deviation of a detection origin by influence of excitation change and temperature rise caused due to power supply to electronic equipment. SOLUTION: The magnet detector determines that the magnet is present near the magnet detector if output from a magnetic detection element is greater by a predetermined threshold value than a detection coordinate origin when no magnet is present near the magnet detector. An origin correction processing part discontinuously or continuously obtains output values from the magnetic detection element per predetermined period of time after the power supply to the magnet detector. When an amount of output change of the magnetic detection element in a predetermined period of time is smaller than the predetermined threshold value, the detection coordinate origin is corrected to a detection coordinate origin in the next predetermined period of time based on an average value of the output value from the magnetic detection element in the predetermined period of time. When the amount of output change of the magnetic detection element in the predetermined period of time is the predetermined threshold value or greater, it is determined that the magnet is detected.
