A surge-free arc extinguishing device suitable to be used in a contactor and a switch for switching a capacitive load. The device has silicon controlled rectifiers (TR1, TR2) connected in parallel with two ends (J1, J2) of a main loop of the contactor. One path of a conducting trigger signal of the silicon controlled rectifier (TR1, TR2) is controlled by a controlling loop, and another path of the conducting trigger signal of the silicon controlled rectifier (TR1, TR2) is provided from a contact bridge (SW1) of the main loop of the contactor. The conducting trigger signals of the silicon controlled rectifiers (TR1, TR2) are controlled and triggered by the controlling loop and triggered by the contact bridge of main loop in a dual-trigger way. The controlling loop provides trigger signals to the silicon controlled rectifier (TR1, TR2) when the contactor is connected. The contact bridge (SW1) of contactor provides trigger signals when the contactor is disconnected. The surge and the arc can be eliminated when the contactor switches on and off the capacitive load.
