The actuator has a hydraulic cylinder (3) maintained on a fixed part of a machine tool and including a piston (1) for carrying out required linear movement. The piston includes a mechanical interface constituted by a rolling bearing (11) for transmitting the linear movement to a rotating part (8) by a concentric master axle or tube (7), where the axle or tube axially slides in the rotating part and turns with the rotating part. The mechanical interface realizes decoupling between the linear movement and rotating movement while permitting whole freedom to the rotating movement. An independent claim is also included for a combination of a hydraulic actuator and a hydropneumatic converter.
