<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable POS (point of sale) device whose power consumption is reduced even if it is provided with a backlight for illuminating a liquid-crystal display part and a key input part, and a short-range communication part. <P>SOLUTION: In the portable POS device 10, a brightness adjusting means (e.g., central control part 12) adjusts the brightness of an illuminating part (backlight BL) according to the attitude (direction) of the portable POS device 10 and the frequency of use of the key input part (brightness adjustment process). In the brightness adjustment process, the brightness adjusting means (central control part 12) increases the brightness of the illuminating part (backlight BL) if the attitude of the portable POS device 10 corresponds to the attitude when the frequency of use of the key input part is high, and decreases the brightness if the attitude of the portable POS device 10 corresponds to that when the frequency of use of the key input part is low. Also, the central control part 12 controls on/off of the power supply of a short-range communication part 17 according to the attitude of the portable POS device 10 (power state control process). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
