PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for adhesive excellent in all of temporary adhesiveness, heat resistance, solvent resistance, resist developer resistance, acid resistance, releasability, and easiness in cleaning. SOLUTION: The composition for adhesive includes a metal-neutralized material prepared by at least partially neutralizing, with a metal ion, a carboxyl group-containing polymer containing vinyl alcohol and a structural unit represented by formula (2) wherein R<SP>1</SP>denotes a direct bond, a methylene group, a 2-12C alkylene group, or an arylene group in which several hydrogen atoms may be replaced by a 1-8C alkyl group.
